Pool free-chlorine log sheet
A useful pool log preserves what you actually measured. This blank sheet puts the reading beside its time, unit and test method, so a later entry does not lose its context. Use one sheet per pool; no account or app is required.
Pool: ____________________ Period: ____________________
| Date and time | Free chlorine | Unit | Test method | Maintenance / notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
This is a personal observation sheet, not a required operator record, a water-safety assessment or chemical-treatment advice. Follow the test instructions, product labels and applicable qualified guidance.

How to use this resource
- Write the pool name and the period covered at the top. Keep different pools on separate sheets.
- Copy the free-chlorine result from your test, including the unit shown by the test method. Record the time as well as the date.
- Add the test method or kit identifier. If a result was unreadable or a test was not performed, write that instead of entering zero.
- Describe maintenance separately from the measurement. If you test again later, add another dated row rather than overwriting the first result.
The downloadable CSV matches the printed table. It has no formulas and is not an app-import file. Entered browser-tool data, when offered, has its own download button.
Free chlorine is a specific reading
Use the free-chlorine result for this column. A total-chlorine or combined-chlorine result is a different measurement; label it separately if you record it in your notes. Do not silently substitute one for another.
The blank sheet deliberately contains no target range, dose formula or pass/fail colour. Required operating records and acceptable conditions depend on the installation and applicable guidance.
Make the history readable
Use an unambiguous date such as 2026-10-29 and include a time when you take multiple readings in a day. Keep the original value and add a clearly labelled correction if you made a transcription mistake. A missing entry means there is no recorded result, not that the water had a zero reading.
iPhone
Pool FC Journal
Pool FC Journal keeps free-chlorine readings and journal history together on your iPhone. The downloadable worksheet is a separate spreadsheet resource; it is not an app-import file.
