How to check and correct a domino match total

When a match total looks wrong, start with the hand entries rather than the final number. The example below separates a scoring decision made by the players from the addition performed by the scorekeeper.

How to use this resource

  1. Read each hand’s agreed points back to the players.
  2. For each team, add the current hand to that team’s preceding total.
  3. Find the first row where the written total differs from the sum.
  4. Correct that row with an explanation and recalculate every later total for the affected team.

The downloadable CSV matches the printed table. It has no formulas and is not an app-import file. Entered browser-tool data, when offered, has its own download button.

Worked correction

If hand 3 was entered as 17 instead of 7, Team A’s total would incorrectly become 35. Correct the hand entry to 7 and the running total to 25. Hand 4 gives only Team B 9, so the correct match score after four hands is 25–21. This example defines no rule for earning the points.

Separate a rule question from a sum

If players disagree about whether a hand earned 7 or 17, arithmetic alone cannot resolve it. Consult the rules you agreed before play. Once the points are settled, record that decision and recalculate.

Keep a trace of the change

On paper, strike through a wrong value legibly and note its replacement. In a spreadsheet, keep a correction note or dated prior copy. A match history is more useful when the reason for an unusual change remains visible.

Pizarra

Pizarra is an unofficial manual scorekeeper. It records the points your table decides and keeps local match history.
